The Man from U.N.C.L.E.
I walked into this film with high expectations. One of my favorite directors, Guy Ritchie, at the helm – and Henry Cavill in the lead? That should’ve been a guaranteed win.
But… no. This turned out to be a real disappointment.
Cliché stacked on cliché
The whole thing feels like a collection of outdated spy tropes tossed together in an attempt to be cool and “vintage chic” – but it just ends up messy. The one-liners don’t land, the scenes try too hard, and the tone keeps bouncing between parody and serious action. It’s never really clear what this film wants to be.
Lifeless performances
The most surprising – and arguably most disappointing – part was the acting. Henry Cavill usually delivers, but here? It felt like he was just going through the motions. No chemistry, no spark. The whole cast looked uninspired, like they’d rather be somewhere else.
Chaotic direction and missing style
Guy Ritchie is known for his signature flair – fast cuts, sarcasm, slick characters, and raw energy. But here? It’s like he tried to imitate himself and fell short. Some of the visual tricks are there, but they feel tacked on. The film lacks rhythm, lacks flow, and ends up feeling both long and hollow.
🎲 Score: 5/10
The Man from U.N.C.L.E. had all the right ingredients for a stylish, entertaining action flick – but somehow ended up a bland copy of something that could have been cool. A scattered, cliché-ridden affair with no real soul.
Only recommended if you’ve got an extremely low bar for spy films.
