Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is without a doubt one of my all-time favorite sitcoms.

I laughed out loud through large parts of the series, and the characters are just plain GENIUS. Holt (RIP 😥), Rosa, Terry, Gina and the rest of the gang – they carry the show like it’s second nature.

Light chaos with heart

The show is wild, silly, and full of charm and warmth. It manages to be political, emotional, and completely unserious – and most of the time, it actually works really well.

It never feels forced, even if it sometimes threatens to tip into caricature territory.

But then there’s jake

And then we have Jake Peralta. I mean… Andy Samberg.

He works – most of the time. But I can’t shake the feeling that I’m watching a sketch that just never ends. It’s like he’s constantly trying a bit too hard, and it ends up being more “look how goofy I am” than actually funny.

He has a lot of great moments, don’t get me wrong – but also plenty of “swing and a miss”. Maybe I’m biased from seeing too much of him on SNL, but for me, he just never fully clicks. And that’s why this doesn’t get a perfect score.

🎲 Score: 8/10

An incredibly fun and well-crafted series, with one of the best sitcom casts I’ve ever seen.

But Jake? He only hits the mark sometimes.
